Have you had work done?
my mom asked a little too casually during a visit last summer.

What Is Dermarolling?
When you seedark circles, youre just seeing the blood pool around your eyes through the skin.
By making those tiny injuries in the skin, youre putting collagen production into overdrive and thickening that skin.
Doing so makes the blood much less visible and fills in thoseunder-eye bagsand lines, too.
So how does a dermaroller work so well?
By encouraging collagen production, dermarollers could help treat crepey skin by making eyelid skin firmer and tighter."
Why isnt everyone doing this?
Perhaps its because they just dont know about it or where to begin.
Maybe theyre convinced that it hurtsall very understandable assumptions.
So lets clear that up, shall we?
However, there are a few pointers to note before you begin rolling.
Just be sure to avoid super-reactive elements like retinol or vitamin C.
First things first: a proper cleanse.
“Dermarollers should be used on clean skin,” asserts Camp.
“The dermaroller tool should also be cleaned before use.”
Even though at-home devices might not go as deep into the skin, they can still be effective.
When choosing a dermaroller to purchase, you oughta pay attention to the needle size.
Most experts Ive spoken to advise anything between 0.2 and 0.75 millimeters for use at home.
(Benjamin advises staying under 0.5 to avoid damage.)
Ive purchased rollers from Amazon for as little as $12.
Still, it might be wiser to buy something from a more verified retailer, like Benjamins ownStacked Skincare.
(If you’ve ever experienced a cat licking your face, the sandpapery sensation is comparable.)
“Skin and tools should be cleaned before treatment to reduce the risk of infection,” adds Camp.
“Always wash a dermaroller tool after it has been used,” adds Camp.
“Apply a serum or moisturizer after treatment to encourage penetration of skincare products and repair the skin barrier.
Using an SPF moisturizer will also protect skin from sun damage.”
How Many Dermarolling Sessions Are Needed to See Results?
While results are immediate, topping up to prolong results is necessary.
As for how often you should roll, I use my dermaroller two or three times a month.
(Camp cautions against using dermarollers more than once a week initially to avoid irritation.)
Make no mistake: Maintenance is key.
It’s your choice whether to embrace them or roll them away againI can vouch for both.
The Final Takeaway
I am officially hooked.
At just 23 years old, I was used to looking perpetually exhausted.
so many times before it starts to sting.
I was floored to realize this wasnt how it had to be.
And others were starting to notice.
And they wanted inor really, I wanted my friends, family, and coworkers to try dermarolling themselves.
What needle size should I get again?
is a fairly common chat message I receive at the office.
One of my best friends in New York sends me close-ups of her face on the regular.
This is so crazy!
