If your skin is sensitive and prone to irritation, King recommends avoiding pumice stones and sticking tochemical exfoliation.

It can also be risky to use a pumice stone if you have neuropathy from diabetes or another cause.

To begin, soak whatever area you plan to exfoliate in warm water for five to 15 minutes.

King says that one or two minutes of exfoliating is all it takes to remove dead skin.

If you feel pain or sensitivity along the way, you should stop using the pumice stone.

You could also boil the stone in hot water.
