How Long Does Botox Last?

A typical Botox treatment lasts three to four months.

“My patients usually see me three to four times a year,” Keaney says.

What Affects the Duration of Botox?

“What worked in your 30s might not perform the same at 40 or 50,” Sobel says.

Keaney says thatBotox, like any other drug, affects different people in different ways.

Murphy-Rose and Mann also agree on the importance of skincare and lifestyle choices.

“To prevent fine lines and wrinkles, avoid smoking and sun exposure,” says Murphy-Rose.

“Your lifestyle will affect your skin quality.

The study was just a starting point in learning more about how climate may affect Botox duration.”

Does Botox Last Longer in Different Areas of the Face?

Mann assures us that this isn’t exactly the case.

“Some areas we have to use less units than we would like to to avoid negative cosmetic outcomes.

Murphy-Rose, however, believes that these effects could be due to metabolization rather than movement.

“Botox may be metabolized quicker in areas where we use the muscles frequently like around the mouth.

“It is possible that those with a higher metabolism may break down neuromodulator faster.

Muscles that are used more frequently likely will break down Botox faster than others.

It is just one factor contributing to the rate at which you break down Botox.”

So how much of a difference can a faster metabolism make?

While some patients will metabolize Botox in less than 3-4 months, it is not the norm.”

“It is also important to maintain the results” by not waiting too long between appointments.

Murphy-Rose is also a proponent of maintaining treatments.

“make a run at train your muscles not to overexpress, to avoid the folding of skin.

Botox can help to train your muscles to stay relaxed.

Injecting a higher dose will [also] help to prolong treatments.”

Both Murphy-Rose and Mann agree that taking oral zinc supplements can help increase duration.

“Try taking an oral zinc supplement one week before and after botox injections,” says Murphy-Rose.

“There is data to suggest that 50mg zinc supplementation daily can extend the effect of Botox.”

How Often Can You Get Botox?

It’s safe to get Botox every three months, according to both Keaney and Sobel.

“My favorites are Botox,DysportandDaxxify.”

“Rarely, patients can develop antibodies to proteins in Botox that may neutralize its effects.

“Daxxify is marketed to last longer than Botox.

It is moreexpensive, though, so that should be taken into consideration as well.”

As for complimentary treatments to maintain the effects for as long as possible?

“The world is a better place because we have Botox,” Sobel says.
