In my career as a makeup artist, I’ve seen firsthand how makeup can empower people.
“Growing up, I didn’t fit into traditional standards of beauty.
On her aha moments…
“I never had a backup plan.
From the very beginning, my heart was set on this path.
I remember feeling so certain, even when others were pushing for more traditional career routes.
It was always clear to me that makeup artistry was my calling, and I’ve never looked back.
That ‘aha’ moment confirmed it allI was set on turning my passion into my career.”
“As for mentors, there are many artists whose work I deeply admire and respect.
But when I was coming up in the industry, I didnt have the luxury of a one-on-one mentorship.
Advice for those coming up in the industry…
“My advice is to stay patient and persistent.
This business is all about building relationships and proving yourself over time.
Focus on honing your craftmaster the fundamentals, but also experiment and push boundaries.
“Networking is everything, too.
double-check you’re surrounding yourself with the right people, whether thats other artists, photographers, or stylists.
Collaborate as much as you might and never underestimate the power of a strong, supportive community.
“Also, always stay humble.
The industry evolves constantly, and the best artists stay adaptable.
Be kind, work hard, and be passionate about the processnot just the end result.”
