Never infected, its a small puncture spot about a half inch below my lip.

Its not awful, but its definitely visible in photos or up close in person.

These scars are the result of too muchcollagenbeing produced.

As the piercing continues to heal, the scar should flatten and eventually disappear.

Either way, give the scar several months to see if it flattens out and disappears.

And be sure to practice excellent healing hygiene along the way including keeping your hands away from the piercing.

However, unlike hypertrophic scars, keloid scars need to be treated by a dermatologist.

If you dont, the problem could continue to worsen.

Keloid scars are rare, and they are genetic.

People who are prone to them should consider avoiding piercings, period.

Theyre like what I described for my labret: a small puncture wound or pock mark in the skin.

They may become more shallow over time, but they dont tend to disappear completely.

Below are a few ideas.

Chemical Peels and Microneedling

Chemical peelsare designed to remove damaged skin from your face.

Dermatologist, Jason Emer, MD, suggests a filler such as Bellafill.

The before and after pictures are pretty convincing.

According to Dr. Zeichner, “Unfortunately, after a nose piercing heals, it is permanent.

When a whole is placed through the nose, it heals in a process known as epithelialization.

Though he warns that often this leaves more of a mark than the original hole.

Some scars like hypertrophic ones might fully heal and don’t tend to be permanent.

Other scars like atrophic ones (puncture wounds) may get smaller, but won’t fully disappear.
